Get your Konnected device(s) connected! This article contains information on how to get your Alarm Panel Pro boards on your network.
Step 1 - Choose Your Preferred Connectivity Option and Firmware
Important Note: Konnected Alarm Panel Pro boards now ship with ESPHome firmware pre-installed, which prioritizes a wired Ethernet connection for enhanced reliability and performance. While Wi-Fi is not enabled out-of-the-box, you can easily switch to a Wi-Fi-supported ESPHome firmware build.
Two Network Connection Options:
- Wired Ethernet (Recommended & Enabled by Default):
- Connect it: Plug one end of an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on your Alarm Panel Pro. Connect the other end to an available port on your router or network switch.
- Power up: If you're using Power over Ethernet (PoE), your Pro board will power on automatically. Otherwise, use the included power adapter.
- Confirm connection: The Pro board should automatically obtain an IP address from your router and appear as a device on your network.
- Wi-Fi (Requires Firmware Change):
- Download Firmware: Download the appropriate ESPHome firmware build for your Pro board that includes Wi-Fi support. You can find these builds at the Konnected Flash Tool website: https://install.konnected.io/esphome
- Flash Firmware: Follow the instructions provided in the "Flashing Konnected Firmware" guide to flash the new firmware onto your Pro board. This guide can be found here: https://support.konnected.io/flashing-konnected-firmware-software.
- Connect to Wi-Fi: Once the new firmware is installed, follow the prompts within your smart home platform (e.g., Home Assistant) or the ESPHome dashboard to connect the Pro board to your Wi-Fi network.
