Connect to WiFi using BLE (Improv WiFi)

Provision a Konnected for WiFi using the Improv WiFi standard over BLE.

New Konnected devices running the latest factory ESPHome firmware with WiFi enabled can be configured for WiFi over BLE using the Improv WiFi standard. This is an alternate WiFi provisioning method when using the Konnected mobile app or web browser method is not desired.

  1. Open a Chrome or Edge web browser on a Windows laptop, Chromebook, or Android device to https://install.konnected.io/wifi. Note: This method will not work on iOS devices or Mac computers at this time.
  2. Click on the Connect device to Wi-Fi button.

  3. Select the Konnected device from the pairing pop-up.

  4. Enter your home WiFi SSID and password.

  5. The device will then connect to your WiFi network. You can now proceed with discovering the Konnected device via the Konnected app or your smart home platform.

Improv WiFi is Disabled after Firmware Customization

For security purposes, the Improv WiFi capability is disabled after you customize your Konnected device firmware for the first time. This connection method is only available on devices that are flashed with Konnected's stock ESPHome firmware from the factory or from install.konnected.io.
