What is the purpose of the expansion ports on the Alarm Panel Pro?
Understanding the Expansion Ports on the Konnected Pro Board.
The EXP ports on the Alarm Panel Pro are designed for connecting Konnected's Interface Modules to the Alarm Panel Pro.
The Konnected's Interface Module is used only when connecting in parallel to a traditional alarm panel. The interface module bypasses the zone terminals on the Pro. It adds additional circuitry to tap into a legacy alarm panel zone (instead of a bare open/closed sensor).
Each pin on the EXP port maps to one of the input zones, providing direct access to the panel's IO using an 8-pin IDC ribbon cable. There is also one pin that supplies 3.3V and one pin connected to ground:
