Introducing the Konnected Smart Garage Door Opener

Konnected's Smart Garage Door Opener is designed to retrofit most motorized garage door openers to make them smart! It does this by monitoring the open/closed state of the garage door, and controlling the garage door opener by simulating a traditional wired opener button.

There are already a number of products on the market that can retrofit a garage door opener, but we felt that most of them are lacking in openness, an appealing aesthetic, or ease of installation & uses. Our guiding principles when designing a Smart Garage Door opener that aligns with Konnected's mission are:

Key Features

Built-in optical laser sensor sees if the garage door is open

Konnected's Smart Garage Door Opener is easy to install because it's only one small and elegant device that mounts on the ceiling of your garage. A built-in highly accurate optical laser time-of-flight sensor can "see" the open garage door below to know when the garage is open.

Opens and closes the garage door from anywhere

Konnected triggers your garage door to open or close using a wired relay output that simulates the wall push-button when wired to your garage door opener motor unit.

Garage door openers with Security+ 2.0 will need an adapter to be triggered by Konnected.

We will have a Security+ 2.0 compatible device available soon! It should be ready in the first quarter of 2024.

Optional wired dry-contact input

Gain extra reliability and precision by wiring a contact sensor to your garage door using the optional dry contact sensor input. You can use your own wired contact sensor, buy one of ours, or you may already have a limit switch installed on your garage door track that can be used as a wired sensor.

Built-in audible and visual warning

Before triggering the garage door to close, the Konnected Smart Garage Door Opener will beep and blink a bright white light for about 5 seconds to alert anyone present in the garage that it's about to close.

12V Switched Output

Optionally connect an external 12V warning sounder or light. Or use the 12V output independently to switch on/off a wide variety of DC operated devices.

No Batteries

The Konnected device is powered by 12V DC and includes a power adapter that is in most cases can be plugged in to the power outlet on the ceiling. In some cases, you may be able to draw DC power from your garage door motor unit.

Mounting

The device is typically mounted on the ceiling of the garage. Mounting hardware is included.

Connectivity

The device connects via WiFi (2.4GHz) to your home network, and from there communicates either to Konnected's Cloud service which integrates with SmartThings and Alexa, or locally to a locally maintained Home Assistant instance.

SmartThings

Konnected's Garage Door Opener works with SmartThings via Konnected's cloud service. SmartThings is a free app by Samsung with no hub or hardware required, that integrates with 1000s of devices, including Konnected.

Alexa

Install the Konnected skill for Alexa to control and monitor your garage door using Alexa voice commands, apps and routines.

Home Assistant

Konnected's Garage Door Opener works 100% locally with Home Assistant using fully open-source ESPHome firmware.
