Connecting the Alarm Panel to Hubitat

Install the Konnected Alarm Panel universal driver for fast, local integration with Hubitat and your Alarm Panel or Alarm Panel Pro

This article applies to the Konnected Alarm PanelAlarm Panel Add-on, and Alarm Panel Pro running Konnected's latest "Made for ESPHome" firmware.

Konnected's Alarm Panel and Alarm Panel Pro work seamlessly and 100% locally with Konnected's newest Alarm Panel Universal driver and our latest "Made with ESPHome" device firmware.

This guide will help you install (or re-install) your Konnected Alarm Panel product with Hubitat for the first time.

We recommend performing these steps before physically installing the device and connecting the sensors.

Made for ESPHome Firmware

Konnected's Alarm Panel Pro comes pre-loaded with our newest firmware platform built with ESPHome. This is the preferred firmware for integrating with Hubitat using Konnected's officially supported drivers.

The 6-zone WiFi-only Alarm Panels do not ship with ESPHome firmware, and need to be re-flashed using the ESPHome firmware.

If you're re-installing an older device that is not already running the latest firmware, or using a 6-zone WiFi-only Alarm Panel then:

➡️  Go to install.konnected.io and select the Made for ESPHome firmware to update the firmware in 2 minutes.

Install the Hubitat Driver Bundle for the Konnected Alarm Panel

Konnected's Alarm Panel Universal driver can be installed in a few clicks by uploading our packaged driver bundle or installing with HPM.

1. Download the latest Bundle

Go to the latest release of konnected-hubitat on GitHub and download the AlarmPanel.zip file from the Assets section of the release.

2. Install the Bundle in Hubitat

Log in to your Hubitat hub, go to For Developers Bundles > Import .ZIP to upload the bundle. Or, you can copy the link to the bundle ZIP from GitHub and import it into Hubitat without downloading it first.

Alternate method: Use HPM (Hubitat Package Manager)

Hubitat Package Manager makes installing and maintaining 3rd-party Hubitat drivers easy. To install the Konnected GDO White driver from Hubitat Package Manager open HPM from the Apps section in Hubitat and select Install. Then, search keywords for Konnected. Select the driver for your product version and follow the on-screen steps to install it.

Alternate method: Install Libraries and Drivers manually

Konnected's Hubitat integrations are open source and available on GitHub: konnected-io/konnected-hubitat. Also requires ESPHome-API-Library to be added to the Libraries section in Hubitat.

Create a Virtual Device

ESPHome devices are not automatically discovered in Hubitat. To add the device, follow these steps to create a virtual device:

  1. In Hubitat, go to Devices > Add device. Then choose Virtual.
  2. In the Select device type drop-down, scroll all the way down to the User heading and select Konnected Alarm Panel and click Next
  3. Enter a name for the device when prompted.
  4. Once the virtual device is created, click View Device Details then go to the Preferences tab. In the Device IP Address field, enter the local IP address of the device and click Save. You can find the IP address by discovering the device in the Konnected app, or by finding the network details in your router's admin page/app.

  5. After saving the IP address, Hubitat will attempt to connect to the device. You can view the Logs tab in case there are any errors connecting, or click the Initialize command on the Commands tab to make it re-connect.
  6. Child devices should automatically appear soon after Hubitat connects to the device. The child devices are defined by the zones and settings that are configured on the Alarm Panel. You can customize these using the Konnected app.
