Some Chamberlain and Merlin garage door openers sold in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand use numbered connection terminals instead of the red and white terminal layout commonly found on North American models. The correct GDO blaQ connection may be different from the wall-button connection, and the numbered terminal layout varies by model. If your opener has the standard red and white terminals shown in the GDO blaQ installation guide, follow [Mounting & Connecting the GDO blaQ to the Garage Opener Motor (US & Canada)](https://support.konnected.io/connecting-gdo-blaq-to-garage-opener-motor?hsLang=en) instead. ### Check for a wired Security+ serial terminal A yellow learn button or a **Security+ 2.0** label does not guarantee GDO blaQ compatibility. On some AU/EU/NZ models, Security+ 2.0 describes only the wireless communication used by remotes and wireless wall buttons, and the opener does not support a *wired* wall control. The GDO blaQ requires a **wired serial terminal** to work, and unfortunately will not work with wireless-only openers. Follow the numbered-terminal wiring below. - If the opener has only a normally-open dry-contact input and no wired serial terminal, use the [GDO White](https://konnected.io/products/smart-garage-door-opener) instead. If you are unsure, contact Konnected Support with the exact model number and a clear photo of the opener's terminal strip. Unplug the garage door opener and GDO blaQ before changing any wiring. Terminal numbers and colors are model-specific. Follow only the section that exactly matches your opener's terminal labels and layout. ### Wire an opener with terminals 0, 1, and 2 On this regional terminal layout, the green **0 / E-serial** terminal carries the Security+ serial connection. The red **1** terminal is the dry-contact input. This is the counterintuitive part: the red GDO blaQ wire connects to the green terminal, not the red terminal. 1. Leave the opener's existing wiring in place. 2. Connect the **red** wire from the GDO blaQ terminal marked **TO GDO** to the opener's green terminal **0 / E-serial**. 3. Connect the **white** wire from the GDO blaQ terminal marked **TO GDO** to terminal **2 / ground**. 4. Contact Konnected Support before trying a different terminal arrangement. ### Known model compatibility (Europe / Australia / New Zealand) This list is not comprehensive. It includes only models that we have verified from your feedback. If your model is not listed here, don't assume that it *doesn't* work. Check the general compatibility guidance for details. Use GDO White instead. | | Merlin MR655MYQ | Not compatible with GDO blaQ | No wired serial terminal, but supports dry-contact. Use GDO White instead. | ### Select the communication protocol 1. Update the GDO blaQ to the latest stable firmware through the Konnected app before troubleshooting regional compatibility. 2. Open the GDO blaQ's internal web page. In the Konnected app, open the device and tap **Open Web Page**, or browse to the GDO blaQ's IP address from a device on the same network. 3. Set the garage opener protocol to **Security+ 2.0**. 4. If the opener does not have an obstruction sensor or safety beam, review [Toggle Only mode on the GDO blaQ](https://support.konnected.io/toggle-only-mode-on-the-gdo-blaq?hsLang=en) before testing the close command. That article explains when **Toggle Only** is needed and the applicable safety requirements. 5. Restart the GDO blaQ and allow up to a few minutes for it to synchronize. The web page should report **Synced: true**. 6. Test open, close, stop, light, and door-state reporting. ### If the opener still does not respond - Confirm that the GDO blaQ's red wire is connected to the green **0 / E-serial** terminal, not the red terminal **1**. - Confirm that the white wire is connected to terminal **2 / ground**. - Confirm that **Security+ 2.0** is selected in the GDO blaQ web interface. - If synchronization does not complete within a few minutes, tap **Re-sync** on the GDO blaQ web page. This gives the GDO blaQ a new client ID so the opener detects it as a newly connected wall-button console. - If the door opens but does not close and no safety beam is installed, review [Toggle Only mode on the GDO blaQ](https://support.konnected.io/toggle-only-mode-on-the-gdo-blaq?hsLang=en). - If the device repeatedly becomes unavailable, reports the wrong door state, or requires frequent re-syncing or restarting after the initial setup, contact Konnected Support. Intermittent synchronization issues have been reported on some AU/NZ Merlin installations and may not be caused by the wiring. - If your opener has a different terminal layout or no wired serial terminal, stop and contact Konnected Support before trying another wiring arrangement. ### Related articles -
